Open gym Saturday, not a meet
Rec gymnastics energy — jump, hang, and leave before anyone asks about optionals.
You do not need a leotard sponsorship. You need a gym with a foam pit, a viewing bench, and a time limit. Denver-area rec centers and gyms run open gym blocks. Book them. Then leave while people still want one more turn.
Why it works
- You get the bounce without the recital pressure
- You can bail in 60 minutes
- Nobody has to compete to use the floor
How to not lose the morning
- Socks or grips per the gym’s rule. Argue in the car, not at the desk.
- Water bottle you can open with chalky hands
- A snack in the parking lot, not mid-beam
- Skip “try the high bar once” if anyone is already fried
If the visit is 40 minutes in the pit, that is still a gymnastics day. The cartwheel can wait until Tuesday.
