High Line Canal, an easy bike day

A shady Denver metro path where the destination can be a bridge, a park, or a cold drink.

The High Line Canal is the anti-traffic bike day. Pick a segment with bathrooms and a turnaround. Cherry Hills, Littleton, and parts of Aurora all work. The canal is the path. You are not obligated to ride 71 miles.

Effort, for real

  • Surface: mostly packed dirt or gravel — fat tires help
  • Distance: three miles out and back is enough for a mixed group
  • Shade: better than a street ride, still bring sun stuff

Make it a loop

  1. Start at a park you already like
  2. Ride to a bridge, watch the water, turn around
  3. End with a cold drink in the parking lot

Helmets on. Bell if you have one. Yield to walkers like you are the guest — because you are.
