Paper wings, then plane spotting

Start at the kitchen table. End at a fence or park where planes are legal to watch — not a runway, not a restricted lot. DIA-area parks and some airport perimeters have public spots. Stay behind signs. The planes will still be huge.

Table first

1. Fold three different paper planes
2. Tape a paperclip on the nose of one
3. Race them down a hallway
4. The winner gets a name. Obviously.

Then the sky

Bring water, hats, and a simple spotting game — landing gear, airline color, which way the nose points. Ten planes is plenty. Leave when people start asking if they can fly one today. That question means the day worked.
